Since we’ll have to make our clutch linkage from scratch for ole Storm Warning, we decided to devote a separate section just to that task because it’ll be, well – challenging? I think so, because the Bill Thomas/Nickey front end was not set up for any linksge brackets, so we have to make this up as we go!
First, we need a Z-bar, or clutch crosshaft. The Nova’s are too long (9” to 9 ½”) as are the 409’s. So I went through a car show (the Donut Shop!) and thought that a big block ’68 Chevelle z-bar looked about right, and I had a frame pivot ball mounting bracket from an early Camaro I've been carrying around for 25 years.
