Well, I guess a Plan is just a Plan after all!
Our ORIGINAL plan was to use a new GMPP 502 with aluminum heads and disguise it to look like a 396 or a 427. But then.... we found a 1965 - 66 396 engine, casting 3855961 with 4 bolt mains (machining done), 10/10 crank, KB pistons, Scat rods, Tru roller, aluminum water pump, and nice iron oval port heads. And the engine suffix is T1004IA (Tonowanda, Oct 4th, 396, manual trans, passenger car) with a casting date of September 1965. All of this "plus", for $1,100.00! We couldn't resist! So now we have a "period" engine for our Nova. And veteran engine builder Joe Sherman signed on to the Storm Warning team in late March '09! So follow along as we build up the 396!
